Day of the Dull.
Review: In recent years, the bar has been raised on zombie flicks. Taking
that into consideration, one might think a made-for-TV movie in 2005
could challenge the quality of its big budgeted, big screen cousins.
Not so in the case of All Souls Day, which premiered
tonight on the Sci Fi channel.
The movie had nice production values and good zombie makeup, but
that was it. The story stunk and the film lagged. Rarely have I seen
such bad pacing. The young leads were clearly new to acting,
particularly the extremely annoying lead actor, who didn't seem to
be acting as much as just being his annoying self.
And where were the zombies? For a movie titled "Day of the
Dead," I expected a bigger screen presence from the non-living,
but nothing happened in this movie. There was a lot of talk and
hinting of a foreboding evil, but nothing materialized until the
last act.
All Souls Day was boring and stupid; stay away from the
reruns. The only bright spot was seeing a near-naked Mircea Monroe.
